Biography
Simon Lardschneider (b. 2000) is a photographer from Ortisei in Val Gardena, in the Dolomites, where he lives and works. He came to photography as a boy, pointing a camera at the airplanes and helicopters that crossed the sky above the valley. The habit stayed, and widened: to the mountains he has known his whole life, the towns beneath them, and the people closest to him. In 2024 he moved to New York for a year of study, which gave that habit an entirely different subject and made it a daily one. He works mainly on film with a Leica MP, developing and scanning the negatives at home with software he wrote himself. A good deal of the work happens there, well after the shutter.
